New rules limit lowest price, technically acceptable selection procedures

The Department of Defense (DOD) has issued a final rule to prohibit the use of lowest price, technically acceptable (LPTA) source-selection procedures unless the circumstances satisfy eight criteria. The procedures direct contracting officers to avoid LPTA procedures for certain knowledge-based professional services.

2018 National Defense Authorization Act opens up opportunities for more small and large businesses

On December 12, 2017, President Donald Trump signed the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). A number of the provisions increase opportunities for large and small businesses and open the Government contracting market to a number of vendors who otherwise might not be interested.

DoD issues interim rule about computer security that affects government contractors

On August 26, 2015, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) issued an interim rule that affects almost all government contractors. The interim rule requires government contractors to report “cyber incidents” that result in real or actual adverse effects on contractor information systems. The rule went into effect immediately.
